The Wu Sian Teahouse draws inspiration from the essence of tea, transforming each day into a leisurely journey of taste. Gong cha envisions brewing modest happiness and relaxation in a small cup for day-to-day life, as well as providing a space for laughter and sharing the stories of tea drinking culture with loved ones. This teahouse aims to meld the worlds of tea, companion, art, taste, and moment, shaping the global culture of tea.
What sets the Wu Sian Teahouse apart is its commitment to limitless expansion. The name "Wu Sian" translates to "limitless" in Chinese, reflecting Gong cha's ambition to become the number one global tea brand. The design incorporates Gong cha's core values into every aspect, from the store signboard and awning to the interior space and furniture.
The exterior of the teahouse features an elegant ivory lighting panel, a dark gray frame, and a door engraved with the Gong cha wordmark. Inside, an open space hall, counter, kitchen, and sub kitchen create a comfortable and modern atmosphere. The teahouse uses warm colors, natural wood materials, and a brand signature pattern to emphasize the Gong cha image. The combination of wooden slates, marble stone countertops, and metal accents adds a touch of sophistication to the space.
The Wu Sian Teahouse covers a total of 1,197 square footage, providing ample space for customers to enjoy their tea in a welcoming environment. The layout and design of the teahouse aim to create a harmonious and sentimental mood, inviting customers to appreciate and savor their tea. Visual materials such as menu boards and signage make it easy for customers to choose and understand Gong cha's products, while an efficient working line ensures smooth operations and service.
The Wu Sian Teahouse project began in October 2021 and is located in Santee, California, USA. The design team, led by Gong cha California and Vinci Solution, includes project manager Alice Wong, lead brand designer Min Huei Lu, account manager Justin Kou, senior lead designer Chris Doan, senior interior designer Amy Fender, design coordinator James Huy, and engineering support from Binh Wong.
The Wu Sian Teahouse is the result of extensive research into the relationship between brand elements and spatial building skills. Gong cha recognizes that the tea house space is a direct experience that gives consumers a sense of the brand image. By integrating the brand image into the teahouse space, Gong cha enhances the value and appeal of its products, strengthening the brand identity and self-identity.
One of the main challenges in designing the Wu Sian Teahouse was achieving a balance between internationalization and localization. As a global brand, Gong cha aims to provide a full range of consumer experiences that link with local emotions. However, different cultures, humanities, and consumer preferences in different regions posed a challenge. The design team successfully overcame this challenge by creating a design that resonates with both international and local customers.
The Wu Sian Teahouse design project perfectly embodies Gong cha's core values and ambition for global expansion. With its inviting and contemporary space, natural materials, and harmonious atmosphere, the teahouse provides a unique and enjoyable experience for tea lovers worldwide. Gong cha's Wu Sian Teahouse is a testament to the brand's commitment to excellence in design and innovation.
